KERC Domestic Tariff Slabs (Karnataka)

Official LT-2 residential tariff schedule approved by KERC.

Karnataka Domestic LT-2 Tariff Rates
Consumption Slab Energy Charge per Unit Fixed Charge (Demand Fee)
0 - 100 Units ₹4.75 / unit ₹110 / kW / month
101 - 200 Units ₹7.00 / unit
Above 200 Units ₹8.50 / unit

How is Karnataka Electricity Bill Calculated?

Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) prescribes a telescopic slab tariff for residential LT-2 consumers. For example, if your home in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, or Mangaluru consumes 250 units with a 1 kW sanctioned load (without Gruha Jyothi subsidy):

  • First 100 units @ ₹4.75 = ₹475.00
  • Next 100 units (101 to 200) @ ₹7.00 = ₹700.00
  • Remaining 50 units (201 to 250) @ ₹8.50 = ₹425.00
  • Total Energy Charges: ₹1,600.00
  • Fixed Demand Charges: 1 kW × ₹110 = ₹110.00
  • Electricity Duty (9%): (₹1,600 + ₹110) × 9% = ₹153.90
  • Regulatory & Fuel Surcharge: ₹30.00
  • Estimated Total Monthly Bill: ₹1,893.90 (Approx ₹1,894)

Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Free Power Scheme

  • Domestic consumers are entitled to up to 200 units of free electricity every month.
  • Eligibility is based on the average consumption of the previous 12 months plus an additional 10% buffer, up to a maximum ceiling of 200 units.
  • If monthly consumption exceeds the entitled subsidized limit but remains below 200 units, the consumer only pays for the differential units. Consumption over 200 units requires paying the full bill amount.
